Please refer to installation sheet for job preparation and installation instructions. Standard sizes are 5 3/4" x 35 1/4", 11 11/16" x 35 1/4" and 23 1/2" x 23 1/2". The sizes are modular, using grout joints between 1/16" and 3/16".

Many patterns can be designed by mixing the standard sizes. Custom sizes can be manufactured as large as 35 1/4" x 70 11/16". Please contact our factory regarding custom sizes, pricing and availability. Shipping large pieces involves extra crating and shipping costs.

Claymonde is perfect for bathroom and shower walls, kitchen backsplashes, and fireplace surrounds or any other wall applications. When installed and grouted with silicone, Claymonde provides a mold-free hygienic surface.

Each piece of Claymonde is glazed individually by hand and will vary in shade on one tile and from tile to tile. Because of the nature of our natural glazes and high firing temperatures, some speckles, small dots and dimples may appear on the glaze surface. The high-fired glazes are an important aspect of Claymonde. Since the tiles are so big, it is important that the handmade look of the glaze impart warmth and character to the tile.

Each piece is rolled 12 times for a thin and flat tile. Some pieces have a slight texture or marks from the rolling process. These subtle marks are part of the beauty of the clay. We don't want the tiles to look like metal or plastic sheets that have no character.

Claymonde is offered in 32 standard glaze colors. Many of the glazes have a crackle finish and can be created with or without the added patine. We rub brown or black oxides into the crackle finish to accentuate the crackle look. Custom colors are available. There is a $350 color development fee. Five to ten working days are needed to produce custom samples. A four-week lead-time is necessary to produce custom orders after color approval.

Claymonde is Fireclay Tile's futuristic large format lightweight wall tile. A unique mixture of white clay and ceramic fiber is rolled into 3/16" thick sheets. Large ceramic sheets are bisque fired and then cut to size before being glazed in rich crackle glazes.

Since the tiles are cut to size after firing, the edges are straight and the sizing is consistent. The ceramic sheet rolling method makes the tiles close to perfectly flat. The ceramic fiber in the clay body gives some flexibility to the tile, so they can be pressed up against a flat wall surface even if a piece is slightly bowed.
