FireclayTile - About Fireclay Tile

Fireclay Tile Inc. manufactures decorative tiles and architectural details, along with a full line of field and trim tiles. Our factories use old world methods to produce tiles of the highest quality and strength. Tiles are hand molded from extruded clays. Although our tiles are handmade, they are not overly rustic or warped.

We use unprocessed stoneware clays and minerals. These materials contribute substantially to the natural look of our tiles. The use of these clays allows Fireclay Tile Inc. the ability to make intricate designs and heavy relief tiles that are as durable as they are beautiful. Our clays have a high refractory content, which allows the clay to be fired at a temperature of over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit without deformation taking place.

We mix our own glazes, some of which are mixed from a variety of pre-manufactured nonleaded frits, others are raw glazes manufactured from oxides and other raw earth materials. Fireclay Tile glazes are produced without the use of lead. All glaze over spray and waste is collected and recycled into the clays we mix.

We are a domestic company which manufactures its own tiles in Aromas and San Jose, California.
